Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, Albuquerque N.M., Oct 7-15 2017

Experience the largest display of hot air balloons in the world.

In 1972, 13 giant hot air balloons took off into the New Mexico sky marking the start of an internationally famed annual tradition and attraction that continues today in Balloon Fiesta Park’s 78-acre launch field (that’s 54 football pitches big!). Visitors are all part of the action as they step into this enormous launch field and are met with the rumble of over 500 hot air balloon burners as they ignite. The event is welcoming and friendly, as visitors are allowed to walk amongst the balloons and meet the pilots.  Whether its a crisp morning, or dreamy night, an array of brilliant hot air balloons sail quietly through New Mexico’s skies. This unique fiesta can be experienced through several events that take place over a week. For those who want to take flight amongst the gigantic balloons, try an Albuquerque hot air balloon ride Alternatively, soak in astonishing views of the New Mexico terrain on a 2.7 mile ride (the world’s longest) with Sandia Peak Tramway. If you want to immerse yourself in this fiesta, why not rent a camper van and stay at the grounds?
