Bordeaux is a destination for those seeking a glug of culture and a drop of the region’s best wine. The city is situated in the southwest of France, nestled between lush vineyards in the east and beautiful beaches along the Atlantic coast in the north.
In 2015 Bordeaux was named as ‘European Best Destination’ and it is easy to understand why. Alongside its many vineyards, Bordeaux is a stunning city situated on the River Garonne. Recently it has enjoyed a revival, as architecture has been restored, streets have been pedestrianised and exquisite restaurants and bars have flourished. The city also has a rich history, which has been highlighted through its listing as a UNESCO World Heritage site.
When a traveller experiences the boulevards of Bordeaux, a glass of wine merely becomes a delicious accompaniment.
