Mallorcan cuisine has kept its roots with traces of all these cultures which has resulted in a creative and varied cuisine. Some of the best places to taste and savour the typical dishes of Mallorca are the “cellers” We recommend that you begin with cocas de verduras, a type of spinach pizza, cocarrois, a type of pasty, slices of pa am oli or local cured meats in particular the sobrasada or botiffarrones. For main dishes, there is a wide variety of foods to choose from in particular the famous Mediterranean rice dishes, vegetable soups, delicious fish and seafood and tasty meats. The most famous dishes are escudella fresca, a stew of fresh vegetables, frit mallorquin, a selection of fried meats, arròs brut, saffron rice cooked with chicken pork and vegetables, fava parada, which is a bean soup, rabbit with onions, fried red mullet, boiled scorpion fish, llobarro a la sal or sea bass, and there are many more to choose from.
