Gastronomy

Variety is what makes Mallorquin cuisine so special.

The history of Mallorca has been marked by the continuous comings and goings and domination of ancient civilisations. Mallorcan cuisine has kept its roots with traces of all these cultures which has resulted in a creative and varied cuisine. Some of the best places to taste and savour the typical dishes of Mallorca are the “cellers” We recommend that you begin with cocas de verduras, a type of spinach pizza, cocarrois, a type of pasty, slices of pa am oli or local cured meats in particular the sobrasada or botiffarrones. For main dishes, there is a wide variety of foods to choose from in particular the famous Mediterranean rice dishes, vegetable soups, delicious fish and seafood and tasty meats. The most famous dishes are escudella fresca, a stew of fresh vegetables, frit mallorquin, a selection of fried meats, arṛs brut, saffron rice cooked with chicken pork and vegetables, fava parada, which is a bean soup, rabbit with onions, fried red mullet, boiled scorpion fish, llobarro a la sal or sea bass, and there are many more to choose from.

We recommend that you try these exquisite dishes accompanied by a good local wine.

We cannot talk about Mallorcan cuisine without mentioning the most well known recipe and perhaps the one which all tourists look for: the ensaimada, a brioche type cake. Try the varieties filled with cabello de ángel (pumpkin jam), custard or cream, they are all delicious

Sightseeing / Leisure

Known as the “Island of peace”, Majorca is a place that has gathered more than enough traits throughout its years of history to be able to show travellers all of the horizons of the Latin world. The almost mythical scenes of a Mediterranean inhabited successively by Carthaginians, Romans and Arabs offer a full program of excursions where it is possible to discover scenes with a surprisingly contrasting variety: the steep mountains of the northern Tramuntana range, and central plains and the most beautiful succession of cliffs, coves, bays and sandy beaches that make up one of the most visited coasts of the Mediterranean.
